Who We Are
At Bishop’s Salon and Day Spa, we are proud to provide our customers with Aveda concept services that support the idea of connecting beauty, environment, and well-being. Since 1988, Bishop’s Salon has flourished- becoming one of Nashville’s most successful salons-building a reputation as both a unique Aveda concept salon, and a true example of industry professionalism.
Mitzi Bishop is the owner of Bishop’s Salon & Day Spa. A native Nashvillian, Mitzi grew up working in her father’s salon, and by age 17 was working as a hairdresser. After her father’s unexpected death the following year, Mitzi left Nashville and headed to Los Angeles to further the career inspired by her dad. There, she spent the next nine years apprenticing under renowned stylists and world-class hairdressers. She trained with Sebastian in Los Angeles as well as Pivot Point in Chicago and Jon Nave, and in 1988, Mitzi made her way back home to Nashville and founded Bishop’s Salon & Day Spa.
Since opening nearly 25 years ago, Mitzi has built Bishop’s into a sought-out salon that enjoys tremendous accolades and success. Having been featured in Harper’s Bazaar, Town & Country and Elle magazines among others, Bishop’s has also been a regular on “Talk of the Town” and named one of “America’s Top 200 Fastest Growing Salons” eight times by Salon Today.
Today, Mitzi leads a team of more than 15 stylists and employees, each of whom brings a unique talent to Bishop’s. She attributes much of the salon’s success not only to her talented team but also to the thorough training program each of her stylists must go through. A passionate teacher, Mitzi truly thrives when sharing her knowledge with her staff and clients.
Inspired by the celebrity styles of Michelle Pfeiffer, Sharon Stone and Melanie Griffith among others, Mitzi is highly specialized in cutting, blonde coloring and grey coverage. “I have aged with my clients, so I truly understand what it means to have youthful hair,” Mitzi shares. “Your hair is your crown and glory!”
Mitzi lives with her husband Jerry and son Timothy.
