A part of the Bishop’s team since 2002, Melinda’s career spans more than 25 years. Having grown up in Nashville, she received her training from Jon Nave and his since honed her skills, specializing in cuts, coloring and permanent waving. Inspired by such celebrity styles as Bradley Cooper’s, Melinda keeps an eye on current trends so that she can offer new and exciting ways to transform her clients at every visit. “My goal is simply to please my clients,” she says.
Nashville native Jeni Renschler grew up knowing her destiny: “I always wanted to do hair,” she admits. As the salon’s lead stylist, Jeni often mentors junior stylists on technique and color formulation while also ensuring that her own clients are happy when they leave her chair. Specializing in red heads, Jeni finds it extremely rewarding to help clients find looks that are realistic for their lifestyles. She is active in continuing education to help her stay ahead of the trends, making her an extremely valuable member of the Bishop’s team.
Jessica Hart, a Nashville native, arrived at cosmetology by way of the U.S. Military. Having completed her military career and received her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, Jessica eventually discovered her passion for cosmetology. A former student of the Paul Mitchell Cosmetology Academy, Jessica furthered her training in Las Vegas, New York and California and now enjoys the pedigree of a complete cosmetologist, with refined skills in hair, nails, skin and salon management. At Bishop’s, she utilizes her creativity, specializing in natural hair care, extensions, cuts and color.
Shannon began her hairdressing career over 13 years ago at Salon FX where she developed a clientele willing to follow her. With a desire to be closer to home and enhance her haircutting skills, she began her career at Bishop’s in the very cold month of February 2015. Knowing of Mitzi’s reputation in the industry as a talented hairdresser, and salon owner, she is very happy to be a part of the Bishop’s Team where there is ongoing education and the opportunity for professional growth.
Courtney is a Nashville native who knew her calling from a young age. She received her training from the Dickson Technology Center, where she graduated with honors. Courtney has a passion for making her clients feel beautiful and confident, and making a connection that can last a life time. She enjoys the advanced training she is receiving at Bishop’s and is eager and excited to be a part of the talented team of stylists.
Jennifer’s interest in the beauty industry began as a high school student working P/T on Bishop’s front desk. Inevitably, she continued her education in Cosmetology, to become a hairdresser, and upon graduation, began her career at Bishop’s Salon. As an apprentice under Mitzi, she learned advanced hair cutting and coloring skills, and over time became a leader and assistant teacher in Mitzi’s advanced education classes. Always ambitious, and looking ahead, Jennifer’s career path led her to independence and salon ownership. Fast forward 16 years, and a few changes (Lols), including marriage and kids, and she’s come full circle – back to Bishop’s Salon, and we are thrilled! Jennifer excels in geometrical haircuts, hair color and highlights. For you curly heads, who don’t always love their curls, she is also a pro with Keratin Smoothing and Straightening treatments.
Kiby Overman brings a variety of industry experience to Bishop’s, where she works as a make-up artist and aesthetician. Having studied makeup application and technique throughout college and during her time in New York, Kiby has worked countless photo shoots and fashion shows, including during New York’s Fashion Week.
With an impressive career in salon service, Konrad brings his experience and expertise to Bishop’s, where he works as a front desk service advisor. He enjoys working with people and uses his creativity to ensure that each customer receives what they want and leaves feeling amazing!
Having earned her bachelor’s degree from UT-Knoxville, Madelene has been a Bishop’s employee since 1997. As Bishop’s Salon and Day Spa’s business manager, she specializes in all-things-financial. From running payroll to generating salon statistics, Madelene does it all, and she keeps the staff grounded and on-task as she does it.
Mitzi Bishop is the owner of Bishop’s Salon & Day Spa. A native Nashvillian, Mitzi grew up working in her father’s salon, and by age 17 was working as a hairdresser. After her father’s unexpected death the following year, Mitzi left Nashville and headed to Los Angeles to further the career inspired by her dad. There, she spent the next nine years apprenticing under renowned stylists and world-class hairdressers. She trained with Sebastian in Los Angeles as well as Pivot Point in Chicago and Jon Nave, and in 1988, Mitzi made her way back home to Nashville and founded Bishop’s Salon & Day Spa.
Since opening nearly 25 years ago, Mitzi has built Bishop’s into a sought-out salon that enjoys tremendous accolades and success. Having been featured in Harper’s Bazaar, Town & Country and Elle magazines among others, Bishop’s has also been a regular on “Talk of the Town” and named one of “America’s Top 200 Fastest Growing Salons” eight times by Salon Today.
Today, Mitzi leads a team of more than 15 stylists and employees, each of whom brings a unique talent to Bishop’s. She attributes much of the salon’s success not only to her talented team but also to the thorough training program each of her stylists must go through. A passionate teacher, Mitzi truly thrives when sharing her knowledge with her staff and clients.
Inspired by the celebrity styles of Michelle Pfeiffer, Sharon Stone and Melanie Griffith among others, Mitzi is highly specialized in cutting, blonde coloring and grey coverage. “I have aged with my clients, so I truly understand what it means to have youthful hair,” Mitzi shares. “Your hair is your crown and glory!”
Mitzi lives with her husband Jerry and son Timothy.
